The Colors of My Life

by Bill Lillis

The colors of my life are primary.

Reality bent, I work to find hues,

shades and tones.

But they all come together

to make their own spectrum.

Some of me is white

with multiple shades of gray.

I’m not beige, but am earthy.

Decades of bright pink and blue from

daughters and sons

decorate my life with sharp blends of vibrant pigments.

But what is color?

Roses ARE red, like red blood cells,

violet defines blue

and chlorophyll IS green

Merely wavelengths?

Photons?

Particles?

Who’s to say, “How green was my valley?”
