Day 113 November 27, 2001

I'm back. Rested and ready for the final push. I have until the end of the year to get as much done as possible, then I need to get a job cause I'm out of money. The roofer came and did about 98% of the roof. All that's left is to trim one end and put in the ridge vent. He says he will finish Saturday, weather permitting. The roof looks great.

Being weather tight takes much of the time pressures off me. I can take it as slowly as I want because rain won't hurt anything now. Cold is still an issue, so the wood stove is my priority. I spent the whole day fitting the cathedral ceiling support. The CCS needed to be framed into the roof, and a hole cut for the chimney to poke through. My roof is brand new and the first thing I do is cut a big hole in it. Go figure. The wood stove installation will take me a week I expect. It's a system, not just a stove. There is the stove itself, the chimney connector (22 gauge black single wall stove pipe) that goes from the stove to the chimney (double wall $tainless $teel) that goes through the CCS through the roof, roof flashing, and a rain cap. There are many clearances that have to be met to keep the stove from igniting things other than firewood. The stove will sit on a custom made stone hearth. I'm using stones dug from the basement hole. I am undecided about what to use behind the stove up against the wall. Any suggestions?
