Day 118 December 2, 2001
I got back to the hill after 11 and went up on the roof and installed the flashing, storm collar and rain cap on the chimney. As far as I know, I'm done on the roof. I am grateful that no one fell off. It looks awesome.
I took the forms off the hearth and made the first and second fires in the woodstove. I'm very happy with the final product.
You need to break in the stove slowly by lighting 3 or 4 small fires and allowing the stove to get hot then cool down. It didn't get very warm in the cabin even with the stove hot due to the open soffits. Got to get them closed in so I can insulate. I finished installing the trim and hardware on the sliding door and then cleaned up for a few hours, enjoying the fire and dreaming of a 200 foot well.
7 hours, mostly sunny around 52.
