Day 143 January 29, 2002

Do you think Jesus yelled my name when he hit his finger with a hammer? Just wondering. Today I finished framing all the interior doorways. I had been putting it off because I couldn't figure out a good way to trim the spaces between the top of the partition walls and the loft flooring above. I didn't want to run drywall up there because it would be too difficult to spackle and paint because it's all corners. I didn't want to use tongue and groove either because it would look funny above the painted walls. Fortunately Laurie had a brilliant idea. Why not use 6x8 joist material for over the partition walls then drywall under it? That would give a clean look and enhance the continuity of the whole cabin. So I cut and fit the 5 6x8 pieces. I also finished framing the wall between the bedroom and staircase. I added a 14 foot long diagonal brace to give the wall the ability to keep the log wall plumb hopefully for many years. I continued the design and layout of the electrical system. I hope to begin rough wiring next week.

12 hours, cloudy and mild around 58.
