Day 214 June 12, 2002
Busy, busy, busy. I got a lot done today. Up early and I started on the exterior window trim for the big windows.
I used the circular saw to cut 3 3/4" from the edge of the window all the way around. Since we had kerf cut the
logs prior to installing them, the pieces fell out (mostly). A little chiseling in the corners and then I cut the
trim boards to match the angles around the windows and nailed them on. They recess into the logs for a nice
integrated look.
I worked on the trim until it rained. Then I went inside and cut and built the exterior trim for the
remaining windows. It seemed to go smoothly, I won't know until I see if they fit.
When that was done I went back outside and trimmed the various globs of caulking that had oozed out when
we laid up the log walls. That done I started cleaning the exterior in preparation for the stain/protectant.
I sprayed on a solution of bleach and water and then a good rinse from the hose. I got 1/3 of the cabin done
but ran out of bleach. I'll finish that as the weather permits. After it's all clean it has to dry a few days
before staining.
12 hours, hot and humid with some rain.
