Day 248 August 16, 2002
I polyed most of the boards I put up on the second side. I started putting up pieces above the ties,
using the boards I had pre-polyed outside.
I used these simple methods to install long boards by myself. Lets say this top board is the one I'm
installing. First I clamp a scrap to the previous course. Then I slip one end of the board behind the scrap,
which holds it in place and lines up the tongue in the groove. I work my way down the board, climbing over the
collar ties as needed, using my trusty rubber mallet to work the boards together.
If the board has a curve in it, I screw a scrap 2x4 to the rafter and use a spredding clamp to
push the board into place.
10 hours, hot, finally a little rain. I saw a puddle!
