Day 262 September 22 , 2002
Laurie and I spent a nice day at the cabin, hanging out and doing a little work. It is
amazing how the pace has slowed from the frenetic first few months. It is so easy to lay in
bed, relax, read books and watch movies when there is no pressure from Mother Nature. We got
up around 9:30 and went for a run. It is a brutal run I think. Very hilly. I couldn't keep up
with Laurie and then to add insult to injury she did 2 laps to my one. Ugh. After breakfast
Laurie took the ATV and wagon and collected rocks to mark "Laurie's Lane", a trail that leads
to the driveway. I cut firewood and cleared and burned brush. I had been waiting for a good time
to burn the tree that had knocked out my power a while back. It still had a lot of leaves on it
and it has been so dry up here I didn't dare burn it until we got rain. Last night we finally got
some, so we burned. We stacked the good stuff in the woodshed and piled the rest for splitting.
In the evening Laurie suggested we re-stack the oak flooring to make it easier to pick planks of
each width. So we did.
5 hours, cool, humid, cloudy around 75.
