Day 265 September 25 , 2002
Up early and out for a jog. Not a run mind you. I hit the hilly loop and hated every minute of it.
But it's good for you. Comedian Dennis Leary once said that studies show that exercising adds exactly
the number of hours you spend exercising to your life span. Think about it. Back at the cabin I cut,
fit, sanded, installed and stained the hand rails for both exterior stairs.
I used cedar posts and, because I'm a cheap bastard, I used old hand rails from my parents' house
that they had long since abandoned and stuck up in the attic. Actually, that's not the only reason
I used them. The new handrails I saw at the store were all twisted and warped due to being fast grown
new lumber. The old ones are dense, straight and much nicer. It was well worth the extra sanding required
to remove the old paint. Besides, it is nice to have a piece of my childhood home in my new home.
With that done and crossed off the list, I mounted the hand rail post in the basement and did some
general clean up. I did all the prep work on Mr. Plow in anticipation of getting the power steering
pulley and pump on tomorrow. It sure is getting dark early up here. Almost cool enough for a fire. Think snow!
11 hours, sunny and calm around 72.
