Day 56 Wednesday, September 26, 2001
It got into the 30's last night. Brrrrr. You know I hate
the cold. I'd better get moving. I mark the position of all
the joists on the box and perimeter beams and carry them onto
the foundation, one at a time. Damn I wish I was big and strong,
2x10x12' or 14's are heavy. Once I get them propped up on the box
beam I go inside, set up scaffolding, put the joists in place and
nail them in. 47 times. I finish all the full joists at 7:30 and
by then I can see my breath. Chilly, but calm and clear. It
cleared up as the sun went down, naturally. Tomorrow I hope to
finish the blocking, bridging and stairway opening joists. I will
be sheathing the floor this weekend, maybe even laying the first
logs. Are you listening Butchie? Hint, hint. Its safe to come
back, all the blocks are laid.
11 hours, cloudy around 58.
