Day 275 October 9, 2002
OK so the meeting is tonight, not last night. I figured it out right away by the empty parking lot.
D'oh! I'm not ashamed to say I don't know what day it is. You all should be so lucky. Anyway, I walked
around on my nice finished floors for a while, them got busy applying polyurethane to the loft ceiling.
I had polyed everything from the collar ties up when I put the ceiling in, leaving the last part for
another day. That apparently is today. I can't wait to be done saying "poly". When I finished up the first
coat, the electrical inspector arrived for my final electrical inspection. He has a tool that he plugs into
random outlets and every GFI outlet that checks voltage, voltage under load, impedance and polarity. It has
a button he pushes to simulate a ground fault to ensure the GFI works correctly. He counts the outlets, smoke
detectors, lights and such to make sure I didn't miss anything. He was pleased and passed me. He suggested
I add another light in the basement and one outside the basement doors. I will. He signed off and split. I
was happy to have that over with.
Next I turned my attentions to the driveway. Since it has been so dry,
the driveway hasn't stayed packed down and is now rather bumpy. I took a left-over roll of metal reinforcing
wire and folded it over several times, chained a few cement blocks and boulders on top of it and attached the
chain to the back of The Big Yellow One. I then dragged the drag up and down the driveway, smoothing out the
high spot and filling in the low ones. It was quite effective, although I need to do some more when I get more
diesel fuel. The machine was running low and I didn't want it to quit in the driveway and block me in. I left
around 7:30 PM to go to a meeting about property taxes.
8 hours, cool and breezy.
