Day 85 October 25, 2001
The poo crew finished after a few more hours of hammering and digging. They were kind enough to help me put in the pipe for the foundation
and basement drains. Caesar, the trac hoe operator, is quite skilled. He picks and chooses the fill with the huge bucket and puts it where he
wants it. He dug near the house for my drains and conduit which saved me time. His machine is stronger than mine. He backfilled and leveled the
trench all with the big machine. It is amazingly smooth considering the tool used. The jackhammer cost an extra $400 bringing the bill for the
septic system to $6600. Let me see. I make .2 hours per oil change. That's $3.65 - 33% income tax = $2.45 net per oil change. 6600 / 2.45 = 2693.8775
oil changes to buy a septic system. Working at Somerset Nissan I needed to do 2700 oil changes to pee inside. And people wonder why I don't want
to go back to that place.
I finished the parging! What a struggle that last wall was. There was hardly any room to work because the rock is so close to the blocks on
this wall. Every time I moved rocks and dirt fell where I was trying to parge. I had to clean the bottom of the wall and the footing with my
blowgun and water about a foot then parge a foot then clean a foot etc. Its done, praise the lord and pass the gravy.
The concrete contractor neither called nor showed up. I will never understand these people. I also called the second well guy to ask him
if he was going to show up. No answer, no surprise.
Tomorrow I WILL finish the rafters. A cold front is moving in tonight. I'm ready, bring it on. I have thermals.
11 hours, warm and windy around 70.
