Day 14 Wednesday, August 15, 2001
I told Laurie I wouldn't wake her up too early and we could go to the diner for breakfast. We needed to go to town anyway to get marking paint for painting the lines I need to dig around and I wanted to get some diesel fuel. We got up at 8:45 and went to the diner. After breakfast I went to the hardware store and Laurie went to the Shop Rite. We came back to camp and I started digging and Laurie started re-stacking all the tongue and groove pine that had come loose in transit up the driveway. The tongue and groove wood must be kept flat and covered in plastic as it will absorb moisture from the air and ground and swell up. After that she stared burning brush. Each fire she makes is bigger than the previous one!
The digging went well. I'm down to within 6 inches or so for the basement. Tomorrow I hope to finish and start to dig the footing trenches. Laurie will be invaluable for that.
12 hours, sunny and nice around 80
