Day 96 November 5, 2001
So I get up and head to the police department to file a complaint on the well guy. I get there and the nice,
obese, mustached woman tells me "we don't do that on Mondays". Seems they need Mondays to prepare for court.
I guess I will just come back tomorrow. I've got nothing better to do right? I hit the lumber yard for some 2x6s for
the remaining outlookers. I need to buy a few because the plans show 14 of them 2 feet on center. Hummmm. That's 28
feet or so. My roof is about 38 feet. Seems the architect doesn't figure in the pitch of the roof which determines
the length of the rafters which determines the number of outlookers required. Lazy. I used to think of the plans as
the bible, but they are as full of holes as the real bible. Sorry Darrin. No offense. Anyway, by now its snowing
pretty good, and windy as heck. Too nasty to work on the roof, so I tie up some loose ends. I call for my foundation
inspection (tomorrow at 11 AM), move a pallet of mortar out of the way, add 2b gravel and rake level the basement in
anticipation of the slab pour. I fix some things around the camper and lie down for a nap. 30 seconds later I hear a
diesel coming up the driveway. It's the basement slab contractor and 2 helpers. They put the polyethylene vapor
barrier and wire mesh reinforcement over the gravel in the basement and schedule the concrete delivery for tomorrow
at 9 AM. Yahoo!
After they leave I spend the remaining daylight and some of the dark using the Big Yellow One to move stumps to
their new home at the bottom of a big hole.
8 hours, cold, windy with snow all day.
